Time for a Melonhead ‘do’

Some children love getting their haircut. Others, well, not so much. In fact, heading off to the hair salon can be an unpleasant experience for little ones. But when you head off to a fun salon, it can be an entirely different story. They may not want to leave.

Melonhead is a fun, children’s-only hair salon where children get to take a ‘ride’ on a pony, airplane, train, motorbike or car and walk away with a truly cool new hairdo.

With bright colours and fun seats, your child will definitely want to take part. For about $20 your child will get the full deal. In addition to a cut by professional stylists, many who happen to be moms with lots of practice cutting children’s hair and are full of patience, girls will walk away with special finishing touches like clips or sparkles, while boys can even get a little fun colouring or spiky styling with gel if they wish.

According to Melonhead, “staff listen to clients big and small and will get the haircut right no matter what it takes – even if it means following mumma around while she holds her kid in her arms.” While the client is busy getting their hair cut, siblings waiting on the sidelines will be entertained with games, toys and other fun stuff. Mom and dad even get to have a bit of a break while the stylist treats your little one with great care.

For the first-time haircut, Melonhead presents you with a photo, certificate and a lock of hair. In addition, you can pick up some Canadian-made Melonhead hair products like Fuzzy Wuzzn’t Detangler and Orange You Glad Conditioner.

Melonhead focuses on baby’s first haircuts to stylish dos for eight year olds, and is located at Beacon Hill Centre, 11652 Sarcee Trail NW, and is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For an appointment, call (403) 516-1505.
