Storytime at the zoo

The Calgary Zoo presents a free storytime (included with admission), Thursday, March 5, 11 to 11:30 a.m., in the atrium of the Karsten Discovery Centre. The program promotes literacy and animal awareness and is suitable for children three to five years old.

Kiwanis Festival

Monday, March 2 to 21, the Calgary Kiwanis Festival is on. Daily sessions are free and evening concerts are available through tickets. For all the details, visit www.calgarykiwanisfestival.ca.

Used toy and clothing sale

Head out to the Tuscany Community Centre, 212 Tuscany Dr. NW, Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for the used toy and clothing sale for kids. Admission is free.

Babywearing class

Babes in Arms is offering a babywearing class for parents of babies four months and older, Saturday, March 7, 1 to 2 p.m. The class will cover the main categories of carriers including pouch and ring slings, wraps, mei tais and soft structured carriers and participants will be shown how to use each with a baby over four months. Parents can try out different carriers and receive expert advice. The class is held at 6628 Crowchild Trail SW. Children are welcome. Bring Baby Home with Confidence!

Expectant parents are invited to visit the free Prenatal Baby Care Fair presented by the Calgary Health Region, Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Shawnessy Community Centre (the barn), 224 Shawmeadows Rd. SW. ! Learn about breastfeeding, sleep patterns for babies, your baby's cues, infant crying, safety, what to do when baby gets sick, and community resources.

Get to know the giraffes

Over at the Calgary Zoo on Sunday, March 8, 1:45 to 3 p.m., discover what it’s like to stand right beside a giraffe and get a behind the scenes opportunity with giraffes. Ages five and older. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. For all the details, visit Calgary Zoo online.

WeeHands

Little Wonders presents WeeHands, a baby sign language eight-week program on either Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. or Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Please contact natalie@littlewonders.ca if you are interested. Little Wonders classes will be held at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 50 Millrise Blvd SW, in Millrise (lots of parking), starting the week of March 9.
