SpongeBob at Calaway
SpongeBob SquarePants and the YTV Weird on Wheels crew will be at Calaway Park Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. Meet and greets will take place between 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and are on a first come first serve basis. Also on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, celebrate Canada’s birthday Calaway Park style.
Toons for Toddlers
Enjoy a day at the movie theatre with the munchkins as the next Toons for Toddlers (TFT) is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 10:30 a.m. at the Uptown Stage & Screen, 612 8th Ave SW, in Calgary. From the organizer of Movies For Mommies, TFT allows children to see their favourite programs and characters on the big screen. Screening time is 60 minutes. Each child will receive a surprise Super Why! & Sid the Science Kid souvenir. Sound levels are lowered, and lights are left on a low setting. Admission is $5 per toddler. Airdrie Pro Rodeo
Round up the kidlets and head on down to the Airdrie Pro Rodeo, Saturday, June 27 to Wednesday, July 1. Fun for the whole family.
Stampede kick-off
Lake Chaparral hosts their first annual Stampede kick-off, Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the lake, 225 Chaparral Dr. SE. Entry is by donation to food bank. Enjoy free pancake breakfast, entertainment, lots of fun for the kids, outdoor market, and more.
Family fun barbecue
GirlTalk presents a family fun barbecue Sunday, June 28, 3:30 p.m., Edworthy Park (site 4). Enjoy lots of family fun, including games, playing at the park, and more. Beef and vegetarian burgers along with cool non-alcoholic drinks will be served. Bring your favourite side dish, salad or dessert to share. There are some picnic tables on site, but if you are more comfortable in your favorite camp chair, bring it along. Cost is $15 for an individual or $35 for a family (which includes up to two adults, and up to four children under 12 years of age). Canada Day fun in Airdrie
Celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, in Airdrie with a special parade at 10 a.m., fireworks at Nose Creek Park at 10 p.m., and the Airdrie Pro Rodeo at 2 p.m., Airdrie Rodeo Grounds. For all the Canada Day details, visit online.

Head out to Fort Calgary to enjoy a full day of free fun on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free pancake breakfast, petting zoo, pony rides, games, and more.

Room to Grow is offering Outdoor Fun Days for little kids (baby up to age three) and big kids (2.5 to four years). Our favourite children’s entertainers Bobs & Lolo will be hitting the stage at the Calgary Stampede. Be sure to check them out in one of many daily performances, July 3 to 12, at 2, 5 and 7 p.m. Additional shows are scheduled for July 4, 5, 8, 11 and 12 at 11 a.m. All Bobs & Lolo shows are free with general admission to Stampede Park.

Check out the Wild Rose Arabian Horse Show, Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, at Amberlea Meadows (southwest of Edmonton via Highway 19 and Range Road 253). Admission is free.
Canada Day in Leduc
Catch a parade celebrating Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, noon, from the Heritage Grain Elevator to the Royal Canadian Legion. At 10 p.m., there’s also a special movie in the park at William F. Lede Park and there’ll be fireworks.

Enjoy arts and crafts displays and sale, live music and entertainment, and children's activities in one of Alberta’s most beautiful settings to celebrate Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Devonian Botanic Garden. Free with admission.

Scrapper’s camp for juniors *NEW*
Children are invited to join in for a half-day Junior Scrapper's Camp, July 6 to 10, 9 to 11 a.m., 11 Sackville Dr. SW, Calgary. For five mornings your child can learn the basics of scrapbooking, complete a paper album kit, make their own scrapbooked placemat, create a card or two to give at upcoming celebrations, and, more. Cost is $110 and includes all supplies and materials as well as daily snack and outside playtime. Register by Thursday, June 25 online.
Intro to canoeing *NEW*
GirlTalk presents introduction to canoeing, a women-only event on the Glenmore Reservoir offering canoe lessons and a chance to discover how peaceful gliding across the smooth water can be, Saturday, July 26, 1 to 4 p.m. The three-hour lesson will include orientation to the equipment, basic paddling skills, strokes, steering, basic water safety and plenty of time to practice.
