Stampede wraps up
Grab those cowboy boots and brave the crowds for one last hurrah as the Calgary Stampede wraps up this weekend. Our favourite children’s entertainers Bobs & Lolo continue to perform their many daily now until Sunday, July 12, at 2, 5 and 7 p.m. Additional shows are scheduled for July 11 and 12 at 11 a.m. All Bobs & Lolo shows are free with general admission to Stampede Park. Stampede breakfasts
Speaking of the Stampede, there are still many pancake breakfasts to hit up around town. Drop by Sunridge Mall, Friday, July 10, 9 to 11 a.m., for the annual free Stampede breakfast in the parking lot. Lots of fun activities and entertainment too. For other Stampede breakfasts and lunches, we found a huge list online at Endless Plate.
Hit the links with junior
Now until Sunday, July 12, it’s Take a Kid to the Course Week and Junior Skill Competition at McCall Lake Par 3. Enjoy free golf for juniors – six to 17 years old – when accompanied by one paying adult. Saturday, July 11, let the junior golfers take part in the CN Future Links Junior Skills Competition, Saturday, July 11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., McCall Lake Driving Range. Free for junior golfers. Register on site. Free hot dog meal for participants and prizes to win!
Pool party!

Monkeyshines Children’s Books welcomes Calgary native Judy Wheatcroft Dudar and her new book I Spy a Bunny, Saturday, July 11, 2 p.m. Author Jeremy Tankard will also be visiting Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Tankard is author of Boo Hoo Bird. Formerly Longview Daze, the Longview Stampede is ready to roar July 17 to 19. Intro to canoeing
GirlTalk presents introduction to canoeing, a women-only event on the Glenmore Reservoir offering canoe lessons and a chance to discover how peaceful gliding across the smooth water can be, Saturday, July 26, 1 to 4 p.m. The three-hour lesson will include orientation to the equipment, basic paddling skills, strokes, steering, basic water safety and plenty of time to practice.
