The Golden Pears

Children three to six years old and your friends and family, and learn that material gain will never replace the love of our family with Storybook Theatre’s Cookie Cabaret’s presentation of The Golden Pears, now until Feb. 8.

Storytime at the zoo

The Calgary Zoo presents a free storytime (included with admission), Thursday, Feb. 5, 11 to 11:30 a.m., in the atrium of the Karsten Discovery Centre. The program promotes literacy and animal awareness and is suitable for children three to five years old.

Momcafe event

Momcafe’s next event: Unconventional Careers – helping others feel good inside and out, is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 6, 9 to 11 a.m., Earls Restaurant Westhills, 140 Stewart Green SW. Take some time for yourself to celebrate Valentine’s Day that your partner may benefit as well! Hear the stories of two inspiring women: Kim Flanagan, of Mommy Wear Daily, and Dr. Trina Read. These women have chosen different career paths, and are responsible for helping women re-discover themselves as moms to create beauty in their lives and in their relationships. Safari Family Adventure

Winter carnival

Enjoy a day of family fun at the Winter Carnival at Fort Calgary, Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Event is free and includes carnival games, crafts, treasure hunt, storytelling, cartoons and animated movies and face painting, and more.

Momma – you can fix a leak!

Moms can do everything and if you’re like this one, I prefer to leave some household duties to the hubby. However, ‘handymom’ can be added to the resume after you attend the Fix a Leak Workshop, Saturday, Feb. 7, 1:30 to 3 p.m., at the City of Calgary Outdoor Resource Centre. Cinderella

Loose Moose Theatre presents Cinderella starting Saturday, Feb. 7, 1 p.m. The production is scheduled to run Saturdays and Sundays until March 1. Tickets $10. Family fun at Southland Leisure Centre

February is family month and to celebrate, enjoy weekly activities for the whole family at Southland Leisure Centre. On Sunday, Feb. 8, 9 a.m. to noon, there’s a family adventure scavenger hunt. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 6 to 8:30 p.m., it’s family fun night where families get to use the waterpark and gym. Feb. 18, 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., it’s family skate night, and Feb. 24, 6 to 8:30 p.m., it’s family pool night.

Cake Walk

Take a walk on the sweet side with the annual L'Arche Calgary Cake Walk, Sunday, Feb., 8, noon to 4 p.m., at the Carriage House Inn, 9030 Macleod Trail South. This family event features an extravagant pastry competition where you get to vote for the best sugar and cake creations, decorate cupcakes and more. Tickets $5 per person and includes a slice of cake.

Wholistic Kid Care

Find out ways to avoid the walk-in clinic with your children this flu season with the help of a workshop presented by PremaSai wholistic living on Wholistic Kid Care with Lucinda Pearce, Sunday, Feb. 8, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The course will guide you through tons of common newborn and childhood complaints (colds, fevers, tummy upset, headaches, growing pains, teething, colic, sleep issues/anxiety, allergies, rashes, cuts/scrapes/bites etc.) with the healing qualities of essential oils, herbs, nutrition, flower essences, massage, reflexology and acupressure. Family walks on the wild side

Valentines with Gorillas

Make Valentine’s Day enrichment presents for the gorillas at the Calgary Zoo, Sunday, Feb. 8, 1 to 4 p.m. Take part in this interpretive program to also learn more about gorillas in general.
