Storytime at the zoo

The Calgary Zoo presents a free storytime (included with admission), Thursday, April 23, 11 to 11:30 a.m., in the atrium of the Karsten Discovery Centre. The program promotes literacy and animal awareness and is suitable for children three to five years old.

Spring sale

It’s the Twins, Triplets and More Association of Calgary's spring Sale Saturday, April 25, Bowness Community centre/Sportsplex, 7904-43rd Ave. NW, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tons of good quality used children's clothing, equipment and toys for all ages. Moms and tots community garage sale

It’s the Moms and Tots Community Garage Sale, a great opportunity to pick up some gently-used gear or spring clean your selection of gear, Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Symons Valley United Church (located in Kincora). Kids’ Swap Meet in Shawnessy

St. Patrick’s Wednesday Moms and Tots Group presents a kids’ swap meet, Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., St. Patrick's Church, 1414 Shawnessy Blvd. SW. Admission is $1. Strollers are allowed after 11 a.m.

Children’s used toy and clothing sale

Lakeview Community Centre hosts the annual children’s used toy and clothing sale, Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m. to noon.

Toons for Toddlers

In Celebration of Earth Day, National Geographic Kids has teamed with Toons For Toddlers to screen Toot & Puddle and Mama Miraebel at the Uptown Stage & Screen in Calgary, Saturday, Saturday, April 25, and at the Magic Lantern Parkland 7 in Spruce Grove, Saturday, April 25. Show time is at 10:30 a.m. Toons For Toddlers is an opportunity for children ages 2-6 to enjoy their first movie in a toddler friendly cinema. Screening time is only 60 minutes. Sound levels are lowered, and lights are left on a low setting. Admission is $5 per toddler, Adults and babies are free when accompanied by toddlers.

Comic show

There will be some activities and sights to see for kids at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo, Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, Round Up Center Hall D at Stampede Park. For all the details, visit www.calgaryexpo.com.

First Aid for the family

Sometimes the unexpected can happen with babies and children around the house so it is nice to be prepared. Room to Grow’s resident paramedic Chris Brignall (EMT-P) will be teaching an eight-hour certification course of EMP Canada's First Aid and CPR, Sunday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Course cost is $95/person. Hawelak Park on Groat Road in Edmonton is hosting a great Earth Day Festival, Sunday, April 26, noon to 6 p.m. Enjoy music, entertainment, activities for the kids and more.

The Calgary International Children’s Festival is now accepting applications to fill various positions during the 2009 Festival scheduled for May 19 to 23 at the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts and on Olympic Plaza. Stroller party in the park

Kim Magotiaux, owner of Bellies, Babies & Beyond, will be participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a cycling journey along the majestic Canadian Rockies, June 27 and 28.
