Spring to Easter fun

Now that the temperature is finally above zero, it’s time to hop into that Easter spirit. To help you and your tots get in the spring festive spirit, we’ve got some fun activities to share.

Snuggle up for a good read

We love having our little ones snuggle up in our laps as we read some sweet books. Good for their minds and soul, why not share some special books this Easter season. Pet the fuzzy chick and hunt for Easter eggs in Biscuit’s Pet & Play Easter by Alyssa S Capucilli. A fun and creative way to tell a story is with Little Bunny, a finger puppet board book where children get to play peek-a-boo with a little bunny. Check out your local library or children’s bookstore for your copy.

Chick search

Have some fun on Easter Sunday and head down to the Calgary Farmers’ Market on Sunday, April 12, to take part in the chick search. To get started, stop by customer service where you’ll pick up a stamp card. Your mission is to find 12 Easter chicks hidden around the market. Once you hand in your fully stamped card, you get a chance to win a prize. There’s also a fun colouring contest with more chances to win fun prizes. While you’re there, pick up some yummy pies for Easter dinner at Babyvibe favourite, Simple Simon Pies, fresh organic veggies, and an organic bird for dinner too. Fun and shopping all in one.

Create

Thanks to Babyvibe mom Traci, who also runs a full-time daycare, we have a super cool vibe on a craft that children of all ages will love to make.

  • You need crayons, preferably used, broken ones;
  • Depending on their age, let your children peal the paper liners off;
  • Break crayons into a few pieces;
  • Place pieces into small cupcake liners in small muffin pan (to help child learn colours, have them sort crayons by colour)
  • Place pan into oven, bake at 265 degrees for about 10 minutes. Remove and once the pan is cool enough, slide into freezer for about five minutes. Take out of freezer, remove paper liners and place crayons on a sheet on the table. Voila – children have a new set of fun crayons. Ready to create their new art masterpiece!
  • For an Easter spin, try using a cupcake pan in different shapes like a daisy. Check out Michaels for different pans.
