Sweetest slippers

With cooler days in our forecast, we definitely want to keep our little ones’ tootsies nice and warm. We’ve got the sweetest vibe on an item that will do just the trick.

On a recent excursion to one of our favourite family restaurants in North Vancouver, we stumbled upon a darling treasure: handmade slippers. Sewn as a hobby by Xue Li, a North Vancouver mom, who has a masters in child psychology and is a childhood educator at Lifeways, the slippers are available in various styles for girls and boys, as well as unisex. For warmer months, Li crochets a slipper with rayon, and for cooler times, she crochets and knits a slipper with natural sheep’s wool and the soles feature a soft sheep wool lining in the inside and suede on the outside. Available in various styles for girls and boy and a unisex version as well.

Why we like them

Babyvibe product tester Marley is extremely picky when it comes to her wardrobe (ie. she doesn’t like slippers) so we initially bought a pink pair of these handmade mary-jane slippers for her younger sister Kaylee, 2. However, Marley spotted a good find and immediately claimed the slippers. Albeit they weren’t her appropriate size, she was lucky as the slippers stretch. Months later, the pink wool slippers with soft fuzzy wool lining and suede soles are worn all the time, including preschool where slippers are not required.

In addition to the cuteness factor, Marley’s mom loves the slippers as they are reasonably priced, extremely well made, wear well and Marley now likes to wear slippers.

Where to find them

You can find the slippers at Munch, the Family Restaurant, in North Vancouver. Priced at $24.95 for sizes 0 to 6 and $29.95 for sizes 7 to 12. Adult sizes are available by request so mom and daughter can match.
