Room rescue

When this babyvibe mom learned I was having baby number three, an array of the usual feelings quickly set in: shock, euphoria, and then panic. Three kids, with a five-year gap between the second and third, meant all sorts of required changes: a different vehicle, revamping the family budget, re-purchasing all the baby essentials, and, at the heart of the panic, how to fit three kids (girl, 7, son, 5, and newborn baby girl) into two rooms. Since we love our home, and plan to stay put, we decided to turn to the experts for help with our domestic dilemma.

The decorator vibe

Saplings: Sustainable Kids Décor is a BC-based online retailer specializing in organic and reusable decorating options for children’s rooms. For those looking to green and/or redesign their children’s rooms, Saplings offers a custom design service. For $150, customers receive a 30-minute consultation to assess their needs, followed by a customized, practical report full of eco-friendly and budget-friendly recommendations for the specific space or room. Also included is a $75 credit to Saplings’ online store. In this babyvibe mom’s case, Saplings recommended a fresh, fun, surf-themed room for my two older children to share for the next two or three years. The result, after implementing many of Saplings’ recommendations? Happy kids sharing a fresh, revamped room, which gives them their own privacy while reflecting their different personalities. Why we love it

We love the Saplings’ design service for many reasons. Not only did they listen to our specific needs, and offer fantastic customer service, but they paid attention to our desire to stay within a particular budget. They sourced cool surfboard fabric, beach-themed accessories, and eco-friendly paint, and happily worked with our existing furniture and limitations whenever possible. Above all, we love that the trained professionals at Saplings recommended practical, eco-friendlier solutions to address our growing family’s needs and did so in an innovative, dynamic way.
