Nursing support

Whether you nurse exclusively, or pump some of the time, we can all agree that breast milk is best for your baby. In support of breastfeeding, here are some fabulous products we think will add comfort and ease to the experiences of nursing and pumping.

PumpEase

For moms who pump, PumpEase is a great product offering the big promise of hands-free pumping, and, to our delight, the PumpEase did not disappoint. This product is a specially designed fabric band that fits snugly and comfortably over your nursing bra, and ingeniously holds the electric pump securely to your breasts, allowing you to pump away hands-free, which is a bonus for busy multitasking moms. The PumpEase comes in an array of sizes, and lots of fun patterns, so rest assured there is a PumpEase model perfect for every pumping mom. PumpEase is made in Canada, and can be purchased online at www.pumpease.com, or visit online to find a local retailer.

Nursing pads

To help soak up the leaks'n'drips, especially in those early days of breastfeeding, we can personally recommend the Bamboobino nursing pads. These pads are very comfortable, breathable, and more absorbent than their cotton/synthetic counterparts. In addition, the nursing pads are eco-friendly since they are washable/reusable, and made from one of our favourite renewable resources: bamboo. Available online at www.bamboobino.com or at stores such as Organically Hatched.

MoBoleez

While we're of the firm mindset that women should breastfeed their babes wherever and whenever, without feeling shame or the need to hide away or cover up, we also understand that privacy and modesty may be preferable in some situations. While traditional nursing covers are a privacy option, MoBoleez stay-put hats are a fun, more appealing alternative. The concept is simple, yet fabulous: an attractive hat that the baby wears, with an oversized brim that provides privacy for mommy while shielding a feeding baby from distracting lights and noises. While the large brim offers privacy, unlike nursing covers, it doesn't hide the breastfeeding itself. Available at www.moboleez.com or to find a store in your area, visit online.

Nipple butter

The first few days and even weeks of breastfeeding can often mean painful, cracked nipples. An all-natural solution to the discomfort os this nap persevering through this discomfort is this Natural Nipple Butter by Earth Mama Angel Baby. This product is lanolin-free, very soothing, and even smells great. An added bonus? It doesn't have to be washed off before feeding baby! Available online at Nayla Natural Care.
