Big girl panties

When our little girl was ready to graduate from diapers to panties, we had a hard time finding underwear that was small enough to properly fit her tiny toosh. That’s until we came across a new line of undies created by a Canadian mom.

Girl Gotch

Last year, Rebecca, a Calgary mom, was potty training her two-year-old daughter Sienna and couldn’t find properly fitting underwear. A large complaint was that the underwear would ride up her bum. One day while visiting her cousin, Sienna had an accident and ended up having to borrow a pair of her boy cousin’s underwear. Rebecca thought of nothing until she noticed that Sienna wasn’t complaining about her underwear. She was able to play without uncomfortable wedgies. That’s when the light bulb went on and Rebecca asked, “Why don’t they make gotch for girls?” Rebecca then went on to design her own line of underwear. She took the idea of boys’ briefs and boxers and focused on the parts that made them functional and comfortable and started Girl Gotch.

Why we like them

When we received our Girl Gotch underwear, we immediately became fans because they fit perfectly on babyvibe product tester Kaylee, 2. When her older sister was first introduced to panties we had a hard time finding panties small enough in the store so we were pleasantly surprised with the fit of the Girl Gotch and the fact that they are available in size 2.

The functional and comfortable design of the Girl Gotch resemble simple boys briefs but are feminine enough for little girls. They have a one-inch covered elastic waistband and fit like a glove.

Our favourite thus far are the boxers, which we think work well under dresses or skirts and are so adorable on little bums.
In addition to the quality and the fact that there are no licensed characters on the underwear, we also have to admit that we love the packaging. Girl Gotch comes in a sleek box with a magnetic closure. This box has an extended life as it is now a play case for the girls. They pack all their tiny treasures and tote it around the house and beyond.

Where to find it

Available in sizes 2 to 6 in girl colours like pink and purple, Girl Gotch is available online at www.girlgotch.com, or Cater Tot Consignment in Airdrie, AB.
