A few of our favourite things

Over the last few months we discovered some fantastic Canadian made products for little ones and we think it's time to share them with you.

Big Fat Hen

Once upon a time, a mother and daughter were on the hunt for the perfect bedding for a new addition to their family. Unfortunately, they did not find anything. Fortunately, they decided to create their own and turn it into a business. Based in Calgary, Big Fat Hen offers a line of fresh, fun and functional organic sleep sacks, blankets, minis, and bibs. All their products are made in Victoria and appeal to the modern parent. We recently received a blanket and we love the quality along with the design. Made out of 100 per cent cotton funky fabric on the front and a soft plush fabric on the back, the blanket is able to fit nicely in a stroller, crib, car seat or even for a preschooler to cuddle up with while reading stories.

One of this babyvibe mom's biggest weaknesses when it comes to my children is baby blankets. The Big Fat Hen blanket I received easily makes my list of all-time favourite blankets. It's all-so snuggly and is delightful to rest in for any little one. I love the variety of fabric designs offered. They are unique, fashionable and fun. Makes for a fantastic baby gift.

Little Inkers

Created by a mom of two, Little Inkers is an alternative clothing line that makes a statement. Located on Vancouver Island, Little Inkers shirts are printed locally without PVC and phthalates and soy and orange oil processing products are used instead.

The line of hand-printed and organic cotton clothing for little ones is hip, cheeky and political and we love it. You'll find shirts that support breastfeeding, environmental awareness, attachment parenting and many are just plain sassy. Our favourites, include booby, lil' lactavist, and terrible two.

In addition to be political, cheeky and environmentally friendly, the clothes, which include baby yoga pants, tops, onesies and hats, are super stylish and high quality.

Baby's First Journal

This is one of those products that make us say: "I wish we had that when my child was a baby." Baby's First Journal is a chic baby care journal for new parents to track all the important details of their new baby's day. Many new moms are so sleep deprived or overwhelmed, it's sometimes easy to forget when you last nursed your child, what breast you last used, or how many diapers you changed in 24 hours. This journal is here to help you keep track of important details like ensuring junior is eating enough and peeing and pooping adequately throughout the day. It also helps new moms feel sane and keep control in what can be a rather crazy time.

We like the simple design and size of the journal as it can easily fit into any diaper bag or stroller storage compartment.
