Fun in the sun part oneBeautiful bold blue skies are just an indicator that summer is well on its way. And with that, we’re dedicating this month to highlighting our favourite summer gear for wee beach beauties this sizzling season. BabyLegs coolIt’s no surprise that we are big fans of BabyLegs, affordable leg and arm warmers for children that can spice up any outfit for girls and, yes, boys. To help protect little one’s arms and legs from the sun’s UV rays during the summer (or even on a tropical vacation during the Canadian winter), BabyLegs has launched their Cool! collection. Made out of a lightweight single-ply mesh, the legs now feature an UPF protection of 50 plus. In addition to blocking out harmful rays, BabyLegs will also keep nasty bug bites off your child’s arms and legs while playing outside in the summer evenings. The mesh fabric also helps keep baby cool while crawling on the floor. We also like to have our potty training tot sport her BabyLegs while playing outside. The new line of BabyLegs Cool! is available in a variety of bright rainbow-coloured patterns, perfect for the summer season. Available online at www.babylegs.ca or visit babysbestdesigns.com to find out your closest retailer. Built-in diaper swimwearIn the past, we’ve found it difficult to find swimwear with built-in swim diapers, and find that disposable swim diapers leak and aren’t environmentally friendly. Online retailer Organically Hatched offers a great selection of swimwear that features sun protection of UPF 50 plus and a built-in waterproof and super absorbent Ultimate Swim Diaper. Available in swim trunks for boys, tanksuit or tankini for girls, in fun patterns, ranging in sizes baby to 4T. Sun protective baby suitNo Zone Clothing Company, a Victoria-based business, creates sun protective baby suits that are made in Canada. We used the one-piece suit on babyvibe product tester kaylee, while surviving the super hot summer in Calgary. At only four months old, we felt confident that her delicate, soft baby skin would not be harmed by the sun’s UV rays while hanging outside by the pool. The nice part about the baby suits is that they feature a lower zipper so you can easily change diapers without having to take the suit off. The No Zone suits are available in two pieces and in a variety of sizes for bigger kids and adults too. We bought ours at the Great Outdoors in Calgary. For a list of retailers, visit online or you can also purchase directly from No Zone. Cool water shoesPerfect for the beach, water park, the backyard, or even indoors, Bical Grippers, are cool water shoes that look like socks with treds. They slide on like a sock, feature a rubber sole so junior won’t be slip ‘slidin at the water park, and are non-toxic. Available online at the Baby Marketplace or contact Spree Fashions for a retailer close to you. |
