Reusable gearWe're sticklers when it comes to non-toxic, reusable items for food storage and drinking bottles. We have the vibe on a few great items for the kitchen and on the go that we think are definitely worth checking out. Glass bottles, oh yesThanks to Lifefactory, manufacturer of funky, non-toxic glass baby bottles, adults can now enjoy sipping drinks from a reusable glass bottle. The glass water bottle is protected with a silicone cover, which prevents breakages and allows for easy gripping sipping. The silicone sleeve, which is available in a variety of bright colours, transforms what would be an ordinary glass bottle into a funky drinking bottle. The glass bottle and silicone sleeve are free of BPA, phthalates, polycarbonate, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). We have and still use stainless steel water bottles, but there’s something to be said about drinking out of glass. This babyvibe mom likes the fact that I can see inside the bottle, ensuring that it’s clean, and drinking from glass makes the water feel pure – there is no lingering metallic or plastic taste. The bottle is easy to clean – both the bottle and the sleeve can go in the dishwasher. We got our glass water bottle online Lavish & Lime – www.lavishandlime.com. Check out a video of the bottle being dropped and not breaking. Sip loose leaf tea with LibreAs a tea drinker, this babyvibe mom is always on the lookout for a way to drink loose leaf tea while on the go. While on a rare excursion to the local shopping mall, I found a new tea store that carries the answer to my tea prayers. It's called the Libre and it's a loose leaf tea glass that is essentially a double walled thermos, which keeps your tea hot or cold. The Libre offers two varieties: one with an interior glass wall and the polycarbonate exterior wall, which is great for being out and about, or one that has glass interior and exterior walls. The cool part is that the Libre features a built in stainless steel filter that keeps the tea leaves out of your mouth. I bought my Libre at Tea Desire in Coquitlam Centre. For a list of retailers, visit www.libretea.com Goodbye plastic wrapWhen it comes to food storage, even though plastic wraps like Saran Wrap claim to be BPA free, this babyvibe mom is still not keen on using plastic to cover my food. I recently received a sample of Abeego Flats reusable food storage wraps from Better Baby Bums. The wraps are made from a hemp/cotton fabric that contains a blend of beeswax and plant extracts. Created by a Canadian company, the wraps are interesting. Even though my husband wasn't too keen on them, I found them to be a suitable alternative to plastic wrap. I found that they easily cover up bowls with food and are good for wrapping up small leftovers. The reusable food storage wraps are available at www.betterbabybums.ca. |
