Canada Day fun around BC . . .| Vancouver Island | Okanagan | Around the Lower Mainland . . .1920s Canada DayBurnaby Village Museum, 6501 Deer Lake Ave., Burnaby, is throwing a Canada Day party, Wednesday, July 1. Wander around the 1920s-themed village streets and experience how our nation’s birthday was celebrated nearly 100 years ago. There will be displays and demonstrations throughout the day. Admission is free. Granville Island spectacularThere won’t be any shortage of activities on Granville Island for Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1. The 10th Annual Canada Day Parade runs from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., ending in Ron Basford Park. Following that is the official Canada Day ceremony, where everyone can join in on a rousing version of O Canada. A complimentary Canada Day cake will finish the ceremony at 2:30 p.m. There will also be free jazz, lots of yummy food, face painting, and street performers throughout the day. Vancouver Canada Day funVictoria Park in Vancouver is hosting a birthday party for Canada's 142nd birthday with games, arts and crafts, entertainment, cake and barbecue, 12:30 to 3 p.m. As well a bunch of the community centres will be hosting Canada Day celebrations. Kitsilano Showboat funJoin Bobs & Lolo to celebrate Canada in Kitsilano at the Showboat Stage, 3 p.m. For the entire show program visit online. Canada Place extravaganzaAs always, Canada Place will be the hub of Canada Day activity. On Wednesday, July 1, a new street festival will begin in front of the Downtown Vancouver complex from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. From there, wander up to West Georgia and Broughton where the first annual Canada Day parade kicks off at 7 p.m. And of course, to cap things off, the Burrard Inlet fireworks show will wow all at 10:30 p.m. Maritime Museum festivitiesThe Maritime Museum at 1905 Ogden Ave., Vancouver, is offering Canada Day activities and crafts on Wednesday, July 1 between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The admission for children will be free with a paying adult that day. For more information, call 604-257-8300. Canada Day in North VanNorth Vancouver will celebrate Canada Day this Wednesday, July 1 in Waterfront Park on the 200 block of West Esplanade. From noon to 4:30 p.m., there will be live music, jugglers, dancing, and balloon artists. Prior to that, check out the North Shore Canada Day Parade. It begins with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. on Grand Boulevard Park at 14th Street. At 10 a.m., the parade gets started at 13th Street and Grand Boulevard and runs along Lonsdale. Don’t look downThe Capilano Suspension Bridge at 3735 Capilano Rd., North Vancouver, is inviting everyone to take a walk among the treetops this Wednesday, July 1. In addition to the beautiful scenery, the site will also feature Canada Day trivia, games, temporary tattoos, and cake from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. West Van funEnjoy a barbecue and Canada Day cupcakes this Wednesday, July 1 in West Vancouver’s John Lawson Park at the foot of 17th Street. From 5 to 10 p.m., face painting, live music, and kite flying will be on display. Stick around afterwards for a great view of the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show at 10:30 p.m. Abby Canada DayCheck out a pancake breakfast, parade, family festival, fireworks and more at Abbotsford Exhibition Park in Abbotsford. Coquitlam funEnjoy a concert by Bobs & Lolo, food, artisan market, activity zone and more at the Canada Day celebration in Coquitlam at Lafarge Lake and Evergreen Cultural Centre, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Canada Day in DeltaDrop by Chalmers Park, 11400 76A Av., North Delta, for an evening of fun, including children's activities, barbecue, family concert and fireworks, 6 to 10:15 p.m. Diefenbaker Park, 1st Avenue and 56th Street in Tsawwassen will be hosting a Canada Day celebration, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Delta Museum and Archives, 4858 Delta St., will also be hosting a pancake breakfast and more, 9 a.m. to noon; and Kirkland House, 4140 Arthur Dr., will be hosting some patriotic fun. Berries and Canada Day - yum!Krause Berry Farms in Langley is hosting some Berry Fun, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy a free pancake breakfast, carriage ride and lots of farm fun. Fort Langley Canada DayCelebrate Canada Day at the birthplace of B.C. with some old-fashioned fun at Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Langley Canada DayLangley Canada Day Celebration is so big it takes two days to celebrate. The fun starts on Tuesday, June 30, 3 to 11 p.m. and continues on Wednesday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at McLeod Athletic Park (across from the Langley Airport, 56 Avenue and 216 Street). Fireworks both nights at 10:30 p.m. All day wristbands available for the kids so they can stay and play all day while parents can check out over 100 crafter, vendor and sponsor displays. Entrance is by donation, parking is free and there are numerous free activities for the whole family to enjoy including dog shows, horse shows, ongoing stage entertainment, gymnastics demonstrations, firefighters, a car show and so much more. Fun in New WestSpend Canada Day at Queen's Park in New Westminster, where you'll be able to enjoy activities, music and cake, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At dusk, enjoy a display of fireworks along the Fraser River from the boardwalk. Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area funMemorial Peace Park in Maple Ridge are holding patriotic festivities, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Official ceremonies begin at 12:30 p.m. The cenotaph beside Pitt Meadows City Hall will host a ceremony at 10:30 a.m., and activities, including pancake breakfast, kids zone and more. Jump over to Haney House for an old-fashioned tea and tour of the Haney home, 11612-224 St., from 1 to 4 p.m. Canada Day in MissionOver at Fraser Heritage Park in Mission, enjoy a day full of free fun, starting at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Dog shows, hay rides, gold panning, entertainment, kids zone and more run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the day wraps up with fireworks at 10 p.m. Poco patriotic funCastle Park in Port Coquitlam hosts a Canada Day celebration, noon to dusk. Fun includes entertainment, an international bazaar, firworks and more. A free shuttle bus service will be offered between the park and the West Coast Express parking lot on Kingsway Avenue. Children 12 and under can try catching a fish at the fishing derby in Lions Park, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prizes and breakfast will be available. All the details are online. Rock it at Rocky Point ParkPort Moody is hosting their own Canada Day celebrations at Rocky Point Park, noon to 5 p.m. with entertainment, fun for the kids, spray park and a lot more. Drop by the Port Moody Station Museum beside the park for some patriotic family-friendly fun, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Steveston Salmon FestCelebrate Canada Day with the annual Steveston Salmon Festival, Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton St., Richmond. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, kids' bike parade, Canada Day parade, and more. For all the details, visit online. Surrey Canada DayCheck out B.C.’s largest Canada Day party! Running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, in the Cloverdale Amphitheatre in Surrey, there’ll be various activities for kids as well as performances from Bif Naked and 54-40. There will also be rides and carnival games. The day finishes off with a fireworks ceremony. Drop by the Train at Bear Creek Park for a train ride through a fun Happy Canada Day tunnel display.
