A Dragon's Christmas

Story Book Theatre is currently presenting its Cookie Cabaret production A Dragon’s Christmas now until Dec. 14. The show is for children three to six.

Festival of Crafts

Take a trip to the Festival of Crafts, Thursday, Nov. 27 to Sunday, Nov. 30, at Roundup Centre, Stampede Park. Pick up some great handmade gifts of all types. For all the details, visit online.

Santa arrives

Santa Claus makes his big arrival at Chinook Centre on Friday, Nov. 28, 10 a.m.

Christmas bazaar and bake sale

Indus Preschool Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Indus rec centre. There will be FREE face painting (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and a special appearance from Santa (noon to 2 p.m.). More than 40 vendors, including Growing Up Organic, Wooden Christmas Creations, and more. Indus rec centre is located 15 kilometres south east of Calgary.

Pink or Blue shopping event

Pink or Blue, Baby and Kid Couture, 509-19th Ave. SW, in the Mission district, is hosting a holiday shopping event, Saturday, Nov. 29, 10 am.. to 6 p.m. Goodies for the family and gift with purchases.

Zoo Lights

Calgary Zoo sparkles (to say the least) during the annual Zoo Lights, which kick off Saturday, Nov. 29, 6 to 9 p.m. Bundle up and have fun wandering around the zoo, taking in the lights (more than a million of them), sipping on hot chocolate, and more. Zoo Lights run until Dec. 24.

Craft and Gift Fair

On Saturday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., stop by Cardel Place, 11950 Country Village Link NE, for the Craft and Gift Fair, a one-stop holiday shopping event and children’s fair. Fun for everyone and prizes. Admission is free. More than 60 vendors, kids can make a craft in the children’s workshop, enjoy a visit from Santa and receive a free treat bag. Mod Baby show and sale

ModBaby.ca’s second annual Winter Show and Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Crescent Heights Community Centre, 1101 2nd St. NW. Products on display and for sale include: organic clothing, toys including organic and natural, shoes, accessories, diaper bags, strollers, playroom and nursery furniture, decor, bedding blankets, mealtime fun and more! Airdrie Artisans Holiday Market

Journey to Airdrie for the Artisans Holiday Market, Saturday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Town and Country Centre, 275 Jensen Dr. Admission is $2 and children under 12 are free.

Lions Festival of Lights

Saturday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m., the annual Lions Festival of Lights in Confederation Park Golf Course (24 Avenue and 14 Street NW) gets ready to light up. Come out and enjoy ice sculptures, musical entertainment, hot chocolate/cookies, fireworks and the illumination of the light display. Non-perishable donations for the Interfaith Food Bank are gratefully accepted at the grand opening.

The International School of Ballet presents The Nutcracker, Saturday, Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 30, 2:30 p.m., at Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie.

Christmas in Kensington *NEW*

For the first three Saturdays in December enjoy Christmas in Kensington Village (Dec. 6, 13 and 20). The streets will be filled with elves handing out good cheer and candy canes, live music, and more.

Brunch with Santa

Make sure to book a spot for this year’s Brunch with Santa at the Calgary Zoo as there are still spots open for the 9 a.m. seating, Dec. 13. Visit the zoo online to find out how to register.

Free Christmas Photos *NEW*

Photographer Kristen Shima will be taking holiday photos on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2 to 6 p.m. at Cater Tot Consignment in Airdrie. You will receive one 5x7 colour photo, and reprints can be ordered directly through Kristen. The event is free, but you must register by calling (403) 912-2700. Donations of nonperishable food will be accepted for the Airdrie Food Bank.

Jingle Bells Ball *NEW*

Urban Treehouse in Airdrie presents Jingle Bells Ball, Dec. 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Decorate gingerbread cookies, enjoy face painting, make crafts, and have your photo taken with Santa between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for $12 plus GST.

Season of Giving

Robeez presents its annual Season of Giving campaign, a charitable initiative to donate shoes to infants in-need during the holiday season. For every e-card sent from the Season of Giving website, Robeez will make a $5 product donation via its charitable partner, Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.). It’s easy: one card = $5 worth of Robeez footwear; 10 cards = $50 worth of Robeez footwear, and on and on! A little bonus: For taking the time to send an e-card, Robeez is also offering senders a chance to win one of seven new Shoes and Socks Gift Sets. (They’re a great holiday gift idea too!).
