CURRENT EVENTS . . . On the Loose with Dr. Seuss! The Calgary Young People’s Theatre presents On the Loose with Dr. Seuss at your local library, until Sunday, Nov. 23. Stars and Strollers Room to Grow presents Mom’s Day Out, Thursday, Nov. 20, 1 p.m., with film screening, friendly for a baby in tow, at Cineplex Entertainment theatre. Friday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 23, as it’s the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market with more than 200 vendors selling great items for the holidays and any time of year. A Christmas Carol Enjoy Theatre Calgary’s holiday production of A Christmas Carol, Friday, Nov. 21 to Dec. 24. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster. Santa arrives The man in red aka Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at Market Mall, Friday, Nov. 21. Midnight madness in Airdrie Urban Treehouse presents Don't Wait for Santa Midnight Madness events, Friday, Nov. 21, 6 to 11 p.m. Shop from a variety of vendors, prizes, enjoy a visit from Santa, a one-night sale at Urban Treehouse’s store, and multi-visit passes will be on sale as well. Santa hits Southcentre On Saturday, Nov. 22, drop by Southcentre Mall for Santa’s big arrival. In addition, the cookie kitchen opens, which means kids get to decorate their own gingerbread cookie. Once upon a Christmas Heritage Park presents Once Upon A Christmas, Saturday, Nov. 22 to Dec. 21, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The old-fashioned Christmas experience runs Saturdays and Sunday. Light up Okotoks Light Up Okotoks runs on Saturday, Nov. 22 with family activities all around town from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be many fun surprises for the whole family to enjoy such as hot chocolate, barbecues, continuation of the United Church Christmas craft sale and parking lot hockey. Canmore Christmas Artisans’ Market Hop in the car, bundle up the kids, and head out to the Canmore Christmas Artisans’ Market, Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Canmore Collegiate High School, 1800 8th Ave., Canmore. First Aid/CPR Sometimes the unexpected can happen with babies and children around the house so it is nice to be prepared. Room to Grow’s resident paramedic Chris Brignall (EMT-P) will be teaching an eight-hour certification course of EMP Canada's First Aid and CPR, Nov. 23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Course cost is $95/person. Christmas bazaar and bake sale Indus Preschool Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Indus rec centre. There will be FREE face painting (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and a special appearance from Santa (noon to 2 p.m.). More than 40 vendors, including Growing Up Organic, Wooden Christmas Creations, and more. Indus rec centre is located 15 kilometres south east of Calgary. Craft and Gift Fair On Saturday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., stop by Cardel Place, 11950 Country Village Link NE, for the Craft and Gift Fair, a one-stop holiday shopping event and children’s fair. Fun for everyone and prizes. Admission is free. More than 60 vendors, kids can make a craft in the children’s workshop, enjoy a visit from Santa and receive a free treat bag.
