What's the vibe today . . .

MamaMaven worksops

As parents, we have a lot on our plates (and we’re not talking food). That’s why when we come across something that sets out to make our life easier, helping ‘navigate the path of parenthood’, we like to jump on board.

The vibe

Vancouver-based MamaMaven offers fun and informative workshops for new and expecting parents that aim to make life easier by offering the research on some of the more overwhelming topics of new parenthood so that parents can easily make informed choices. The mastermind, Tanis Frame, is a mother of one with another one on the way, and has a background in facilitation, research, toxicology and children’s environmental health. MamaMaven is definitely worth checking out.

Why we like it

The workshops set out to do the homework for us when it comes to baby products. By meeting in small-group face-to-face workshops we get a chance to check out products, learn about how they work, where to find them, and to find out more about a variety of helpful resources.

MamaMaven will be a really helpful tool for new parents with workshops including Baby Carriers Galore, Diapering Alternatives 101, and Greening Your Home for Little Ones. Here’s your chance to check out items in person before spending the big bucks and finding that you really don’t like it! We like it when life is simplified.

Where to find it

The first round of MamaMaven workshops are scheduled to kick off Sept. 17, and will be held at the Douglas Park, Dunbar, Kitsilano, and Riley Park community centres in Vancouver. For all the workshop details, including class descriptions, visit www.mamamaven.com. Cost is $25 per workshop. You can register at the community centre in person, by phone or online.
