Tuesday, October 21, 2008 - B.C. and Calgary edition What's the vibe today . . .Snugalicous animals Here at Babyvibe, we are animal lovers. We love them all. In particular, we really love this new species. The stuffed animal vibe Out yonder, past the stalks of sweet Chilliwack corn, there’s a woman creating magic, making animals like none other. Stephanimals is a line of truly unique handcrafted stuffed animals, blankets and more, all made in Chilliwack, BC. Why we like it We heard about Stephanimals earlier this year and were amazed by the innovative line of plush animals. When we first saw the range of animals, we instantly made a connection. In fact, we couldn’t resist wanting to cuddle each and everyone. As for the little Babyvibe product testers, well, they just had to have one! According to Stephanie, the animals are made from recycled and salvaged materials, fabrics that are mostly remnants, and are stuffed with Eco-Fill, a polyester material made from 100 per cent post-consumer plastic bottles. With each animal, you receive a soft, handmade storybook that helps to educate children about their new friend, including information about the habitat and ways to help protect the environment. From each item sold, $2 is donated to a local non-profit animal or environmental organization. Basically, we love these animals, not just for their cuteness, but for the fact that they are high quality, eco-friendly, made with love locally, and will provide endless hours of cuddle time. Where to find it Stephanimals are available online at www.stephanimals.com. She also creates custom blankets and clothing that can easily be passed down and reused by other children, and welcomes special orders. For our readers in the Lower Mainland, check out Stephanimals in person at the Portobello West – Fashion & Art Market, Sunday, Oct. 26, noon to 6 p.m., at the Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver, and at the Inspired in the City Holiday Fair, Sunday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton St., Richmond.
