Monday, June 9, 2008 - B.C. and Calgary edition What's the vibe today . . .Hop on the ‘Craft Caravan’ OK, we have a confession to make. We are not the craftiest of parents here at Babyvibe, and on a rainy day, we often have a hard time conjuring up crafty projects to do with the kids. However, thanks to one mom who we think is a ‘craft genius,’ we have an easy way ‘to get a regular dose of craft activities for the kids.’ The vibe Started by a Vancouver mom of two, Craft Caravan provides fun, educational crafts to kids (around age two to eight) in the mail. They provide monthly craft activities, card making kits, and seasonal projects. Keri, founder of Craft Caravan, tests the crafts with the help of her five and three year old. “We know that if a craft gets their seal of approval, your preschoolers will love it too!” she says. Here’s how it works Craft Caravan’s Kids Craft Club operates like a monthly magazine subscription. For about $10 a month, your child or children will receive a reusable shiny green envelope in the mail filled with a new craft project, including all the supplies (glue is the exception), instructions, and a kid-friendly fact sheet about the project theme. Why we are so hopping on board the Craft Caravan Initially, when we heard about Craft Caravan, we thought it was a cool idea. But when we received the shiny green envelope in the mail loaded with cool craft projects, we knew that we had a winner. No longer do we have to scramble to find craft supplies in the closet. The kits have it all. The instructions are easy to follow and the projects are fun and simple to do. Even if your child is not at the stage of following crafts by direction, they can still have fun with the supplies and create something with the help of their imagination. Another great feature of Craft Caravan is the card making kits, which include eight brightly coloured cards and envelopes, and tons of tot-friendly supplies, including glitter glue, stickers, and themed message labels. Who doesn’t love a homemade card? Crafts are a great way to bring the family together and enjoy quality time on a rainy day. We really dig the Craft Caravan.
