What's the vibe today . . .

Worldly shopping

We have a small addiction here at Babyvibe: online shopping. We love it. We really do. Particularly, we love to discover unique online stores that offer a great selection of hard-to-find items from around the globe. Here’s the vibe on two fab new sites that offer truly unique items for little ones.

Enfant terrible

We adore Enfant Terrible, a fairly new e-tailer based out of Vancouver. From the design of the website to the selection of breathtaking items for sale, this site is truly one-of-a-kind. Owner Shani tells us that the store was “dreamed out of a hope for my daughter, from the start of her life, to be surrounded by objects of beauty created with honesty and a sense of responsibility.” She continues, “I feel the need so strongly to become more selective in what we choose for our families and for homes, and less acquisitive; to choose quiet elegance over tastelessness and noise.”

Why we like it

Enfant Terrible carries unique items that are ecologically and socially responsible. Many of their designers from around the world, including Europe, Australia, Japan and North America, ethically produce their wares. Shopping with Enfant Terrible, you’ll find a truly amazing selection of one-of-a-kind products for wearing, playing, decorating the nursery and more. Made in Austria, we’ve never seen a baby swing like the one by Mohr Polster, or the bird house by Brooklyn-based designer Tamar Mogendorff, and the wallpaper menagerie that’s made by hand in the Netherlands. Beautiful items like these are plentiful and resonate with sheer brilliance, ideal for any sweet child!

Purl Mama

Vancouver Island-based online boutique for mamas and babies, Purl Mama has us swooning over Australian label Oobi Baby. When this Babyvibe mama first laid eyes on the whimsical Oobi Baby dresses and baby bloomers, I fell head over heels and knew that my two little girls would look darling in the super cute threads. The entire Oobi Baby line is fantastic and features pieces for boys and girls. As an added benefit, a portion of Oobi Baby’s products and profits are used to support health charities in Australia and Malawi.

Purl Mama also carries an impressive line up of clothing, bedding and accessories by stylish, high quality brands, including Egg by Susan Lazar, Parade Organic, Quilt Baby, Pastel Toys, and Little Deer. For mamas, Purl Mama offers a classy selection of nursing lingerie, items for soothing the body and soul, diaper bags, and accessories. Owned by Penny, a mother of two boys, Purl Mama receives top marks for carrying great high quality and stylish products from Australia and beyond, and for being more than just a baby store.

Special Babyvibe offer

Like most good stories, this one has a happy ending. Purl Mama is offering Babyvibe readers a 10 per cent discount that runs until April 30, 2008. Simply enter "babyvibe" as the discount code at checkout.
