Monday, November 26, 2007 - B.C. and Calgary What's the vibe today . . .Bamboobino Ever here the popular phrase: as soft as a baby’s bottom? When we first touched the fabric from this line of eco-friendly clothes for babes, that’s exactly what came to our mind. What it is Bamboobino is a new line of eco-friendly clothing and accessories for babies and toddlers made of bamboo. Owner Sharon Chai, a BC mom of two little ones, chose bamboo as she found it to be the best natural fibre choice for little ones. The luxuriously soft fabric is versatile, hypoallergenic, and resists bacterial growth as it is naturally anti-microbial. The fibres are porous, making the fabric breathable and wicks moisture from the skin. Why we like it Like we said earlier, the fabric is oh so soft – softer than a baby’s bum. We are happy to wrap our baby’s soft and sensitive skin in a Bamboobino hooded baby wrap or toddler beach robe, wash their skin with a bamboo baby washcloth, and pop on an after-bath hat, which is really great for cold, winter nights. As a breastfeeding mom, this Babyvibe momma is particularly fond of the nursing pads made of bamboo fleece. Bamboobino also gets two thumbs up for being easy to care for. The durable fabric is machine washable and can be tumbled dry. But hands down Bamboobino makes the grade due to being eco-friendly. Everyone benefits when we buy sustainable products. By the way, for gift giving ideas, Bamboobino now has a baby gift set that comes with a baby enclosed wrap, an after-bath hat, and washcloths wrapped in a reusable bamboo basket. Fab idea! Good to know According to Sharon, from the ecological standpoint, eco-friendly bamboo grows easily without the need for chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and needs no replanting. Its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution. It takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gasses as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35 per cent more oxygen. Bamboo fabric uses moso bamboo (phyllostachys pubescen), which is not the species eaten by pandas. Where to find it Bamboobino is available directly online at www.bamboobino.com, or visit here to find a retailer close to you. |
