What's the vibe today . . .

Organic threads

Do you ever wonder what is behind that outfit your child is wearing? For instance, was the outfit made in a sweatshop by a child not much older than yours? Thanks to a Vancouver-based company, you no longer have to worry about what lies beneath what your child is wearing as this company produces organic baby clothes in a socially and environmentally responsible way.

What it is

Parade is a full baby line of clothing made from organic cotton. The clothing is made in India, through Fair Trade, and designed and printed in Vancouver.

Why it rocks

From an ethical point of view, here at Babyvibe, we support organic cotton because it’s grown without chemicals and pesticides, and as a result, doesn’t pollute water and soil. According to Sustainable Cotton Project, conventional cotton farming is chemically intensive and “is one of agriculture’s most environmentally destructive activities.”

Apart from being organic, we simply love Parade’s line of clothing due to the very soft fabric, which is perfect for young skin. Even better the high quality organic line, which is reasonably priced, is more durable than clothing made from bleached cotton. Their designs are simple yet bold and tie together social and environmental themes in a fun and playful way. Remember, it’s never too early to start your little ones to think green.

Parade organic baby line includes newborn kimonos, lounge sets (our favourite is the monkey), blankets, onesies, toddler t’s, caps. Coming soon, Parade will offer their unprinted basics collection, featuring newborn kimono gowns, colourful onesies and baby rompers, stripey pants and caps.

Where to find it

Parade is available in a variety of stores. To find out where visit their website as below, or you can order directly from their website www.parade.ca.
