Perfect pictures

After bringing in a baby into this world, the majority of new parents feel overwhelmingly compelled to document every significant moment in their growth. Reasonably so. After all, childbirth is an amazing miracle. But when it comes to taking pictures, not all parents are experts. That’s why many parents rely on hiring the services of a photographer to capture the quintessential image. Babyvibe has found out about a new concept in portrait photography that is worth checking out.

What it is

Recently opened, Bopomo Pictures is a portrait photography studio that fills the gap between generic department store photography studios and independent professional photographers.

Why we like it

Bopomo’s photography studio in Vancouver features top-of-the-line equipment and is hip yet not intimidating. The studio is inviting for any child who is welcome to play in the super cool playroom equipped with crayons, DVDs, books and games.

With a sitting fee as low as $19.95 (for a single child), a visit to Bopomo is enticing. We find the caliber of pictures is significantly greater than department store studios and is comparable to that of a high-priced photographer.

Babyvibe product tester Marley, 17 months, was recently able to put Bopomo photographers to the test. While a perfect model for candid photos by mom, there was some uncertainty how she would take to being in a photography studio.

A natural poser, Marley easily fit into the role of model and loved the photo shoot. It was so much fun. The props, which range from flowers, pumpkins, apples, toy cars and airplanes, are fun and kid friendly. Needless to say, the shoot went well.

After the shoot, photo selection at the viewing bar begins. This is where things begin to become a challenge. It’s difficult to narrow down many of the 150-plus images as the majority were all fabulous. Before selecting what you would like to order, we recommend taking a breather after the photo selection process, relax with the kids in the playroom and then get down to business.

Thanks to an in-house printing capability, photos are ready for pick up the next days. By the way, Bopomo has a variety of special promotions that are great for parents and expecting parents to take advantage of. They also offer fantastic seasonal shoots.
